BIO

Arthur Gelgoot (1938-2004)

Arthur Gelgoot was the founding member of the firm. Mr. Gelgoot began his career attending to the accounting needs of the Toronto arts community.

He was much loved for his understanding of the artistic temperament and the ability to set to right the usual madness and disorder that accompanied their business records and often complex tax issues.

When he died in 2004, a great number of the firm's clients were unanimous in stating the he "always encouraged us when there did not seem to be a lot of reason for encouragement. He believed in us, even at those dark times when we did not"

He has been greatly missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Ismail Ebrahim

At the time of Arthur Gelgoot's death, Ismail Ebrahim had been a partner in the firm for several years. Ish (as he is known to his clients and friends) was left with the task of building upon a great legacy and he has done it superbly well. He is now the sole proprietor of Arthur Gelgoot and Associate, practicing at the exact  same location where the firm has been for over 30 years.

He qualified initially as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa in 1986. He later moved to Toronto Canada where he graduated as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. He has successfully assisted a great number of clients who are currently in arrears with CRA. His professional experience includes Accounting, Taxes, as well as Advisory Services.
